Is Distance Learning For You?

June 30th, 2008 — 6:28pm

To sum up distance learning, it is essentially the ability to enhance your education via some sort of online course or mail in course. I will be focusing more on the online aspect. These days you can earn any kind of degree online you can think of. These days you can get online masters degrees in various majors.

So the question is, is distance learning for you? Do you have what it takes to get your education via an online environment? In 2008 our lives are busier than they have ever been. Mothers and fathers are both working in two parent households. Single parents have it difficult, juggling work and children.

Or maybe you just like the idea of get your education on your own terms. Getting an online education has a lot of benefits. But it requires a lot of commitment and sacrifice, and maybe even more difficult than getting into your car and driving to your nearest university.

Getting and online degree, whether it be an associates or a masters requires a high level of self discipline. You still have to be very rigorous in maintaining a diligent schedule to ensure that you complete your studying, your homework, any tests. Getting a distance education is not for the faint of heart.

The one last thing I would like to caution about is to beware of scam artists promising a free online education or other such proposals. Now there are various free online courses, but just be careful. As I discover more legit distance learning programs I will update this site.

But before you embark on this quest you have to ask yourself some tough questions. You must make some adjustments. You can go to the University of Phoenix, or Remington College, or some other online learning college but you have to ask yourself if you are willing to pay the price to get your education at home.
